Students who go home for lunch must apply for a pass.
If students stay for lunch
and need to leave school at lunchtime on a particular occasion, they must take a
note from parents to the Head of Year, the Head of School, the Deputy Head or the
Headteacher before permission will be granted.
In a real emergency, where students
have no written note, one of these teachers will try to contact parents by telephone
in order to obtain permission otherwise students will not be permitted to leave
school.

You must never leave any money or valuables in desks, lockers, changing rooms or
cloakrooms, the only exception being when the PE staff lock the changing rooms during
a lesson. All personal possessions are brought to school at your own risk. It is
of course inadvisable to bring large sums of money into school. If more than £5
has to be brought in it must be taken to the office for safe keeping.
Mobile phones
must not be seen or heard in school. If anyone is seen using a mobile phone it will
be confiscated.
The Caretaker clears all locker areas on Friday evenings and places
items which have been left in school in the Lost Property Room for safe-keeping.
If you lose anything at other times you should report it to your Form Tutor who
will organise two thorough searches before referring you to the Lost Property Office
which is
open during morning break only. If the item is still missing we will advertise
its loss on Registers.

Students may not leave the school premises during the day (for example, to attend
a medical appointment) without the permission of your Form Tutor, your Head of Year,
your Head of School, the Headteacher or the Deputy Head. This will only be sanctioned
if parents have given written permission. When permission has been granted the student
must write details in the 'signing out’ book in the Office before leaving the site.
The time a student returns must be recorded in the same book.
If it is necessary to be excused from lessons for medical or dental treatment, music tuition or a games
fixture, students must obtain permission from every teacher whose lesson is missed
and any work missed must be caught up immediately. Students will need to ask politely
or permission may not always be granted.
When students return to school after an
absence they must bring a dated signed note from parents explaining the reason for
it. The inclusive dates of such an absence must be given if it is of more than a
day's duration. On the first day of any illness parents must telephone school to
inform Form Tutor.

Students should be on the premises by 8.40 am each morning and no later than 1.25
pm in the afternoon.
Students may not enter the school premises before 8.30 am,
however, as adequate supervision is not available, nor must they remain on the premises
after the end of the school day unless under the supervision of a member of staff.
The gates to the playground will be locked at 8.40 am and students who arrive after
this time will have to use the main school drive and report to the office. These
gates remain locked all day until 3.40 pm.
Arrival at lessons must be punctual so
at break and lunch times students should arrange to be in the vicinity of the next
room in which they are timetabled, carrying all the equipment needed for their next
lesson.
Students must move quickly to their next lesson during transfer times.
|

Students should enter the main corridor by the door nearest to the classroom where
they are next timetabled or the cloakroom which they need to use.
At lunch times,
movement to the Dining Room on the main corridor should flow from the verandah by
the CDT room towards the Dining Room verandah. If access is required to the lockers
or classrooms in the vicinity of the Dining Room verandah (e.g. Rooms G2, G3 or
G4) students must continue to observe the one way system.
The stage is out of bounds
to all students unless under direct staff supervision.
Students must not go through
the Dining Room to get to the Music Room, unless a music teacher has given them
specific permission to go that way on one particular occasion.
Students must not
cross to the Gatesgarth playing field unless they are under a teacher's direct supervision.
Students must understand exactly what to do and where to go in the event of fire.
Every room has instructions about this in a visible place. It is student’s responsibility
to read these in readiness for the termly Fire Practice or a real emergency.
Always,
when the corridor or stairways are congested, keep to the left and avoid pushing
or dangerous behaviour.
