It has been agreed that the policy outlined below will be adopted as a statement
of intent which applies to all aspects of the work of the school.
Every child is an individual.
Every child has an equal right to the care and attention of
the school regardless of:
• gender • ability
• race
• physical disability •
social
background
Every child has a variety of educational needs:
- some of which will
be shared by other students
- some of which will be specific to that child
The
school has a responsibility to provide for the needs of all its students as far
as resources will allow.
The Pastoral System exists in order to ensure that every
student is cared for and nurtured at each stage of his or her progress through school.
Each Department has a responsibility to plan and provide appropriately for the
needs of every student within the teaching of that subject.
Each class teacher
has a responsibility to provide for the needs of every student in his or her classes
through differentiated teaching and learning strategies.
The Special Needs Department
exists in order to:
- provide advice and support to the rest of the staff on the
ways in which students with special learning needs should be helped
- provide specialist
teaching to students with learning difficulties in support of the work of the rest
of the staff
- monitor the progress of students with special learning needs.
