Careers Education is an important element of a broadly based Personal, Social and
Health Education and Citizenship programme undertaken by all five Year Groups to
enable students to reach well considered decisions about their futures.
Careers/Connexions
Advisers, local colleges, training providers and local employers working alongside
teachers, guide and advise students through option choices and careers ideas.
Students
in Years 9, 10 and 11 are seen by the Careers Adviser on an individual or group
basis, not only to inform students about education, training and career options,
but also to help to choose wisely and to plan for their futures.
Parental involvement
in career planning is essential and parental participation is encouraged through
Parents’ evenings, “Pathways” and Options evenings. Careers teachers and Careers
Advisers are available at all times to support students and parents.
Careers/Connexions
Advisers are much involve Careers/Connexions Library which contains computer software,
audio-visual material and printed information is also available to assisted students.
Careers Education helps students to improve their motivation and take responsibility
for their career plans. It helps them to set goals, use self presentation and negotiation
skills and cope with transition. It aims to give students the skills, knowledge
and understanding to manage their own life time learning and career development.
