I am a local solicitor with Pinkney Grunwells Lawyers LLP. I joined the governing body in May 2012. As part of my role I am a member of the Finance and General Purposes Sub Committee together with the School Improvement Committee. I hope to bring my knowledge and experience of business and the law to the role

David Read (Headteacher)
Staff Governor & Headteacher

David Read has been Headteacher and a Governor of Scalby School since September 2010. This is his second spell at Scalby, having been Deputy Headteacher until 2005, when he moved to become Headteacher of Nidderdale High School where he spent five years. He is a non-voting Governor at personal request so that he is fully accountable to the Governing body as a whole.

Mrs Sue Cammish
Staff Governor

I have worked at Scalby School since 2002. I started as an Advanced Teaching Assistant supporting a student who was a dual placement with Woodlands School. I became Year 8 Learning Manager in 2009 and am still working with those students as they go through the school. I am a member of the School Improvement Committee and I am a link governor for Equalities. I have 2 daughters who both attended Scalby School.

Mrs Karen Atkinson
Parent Governor

I work as a Stronger Communities Delivery Manager for the Borough of Scarborough, a role that requires me to understand the needs of different Communities and reconcile those needs with the statutory duties and procedures of the County Council. My role also assists local communities, in reducing isolation and loneliness amongst their residents, through the provision of activities to increase inclusion, promote healthy lifestyles and positive mental health. I also worked for over ten years for the Library Service, championing the importance of literacy not only to inform and educate but also for enjoyment and wellbeing. I have experience of running projects and large events.  I have two children who are students at Scalby School.

Mr Stuart Abbott
Parent Governor

I joined the school Governing Body as a Parent Governor in September 2015, my son is a student in his final year at the school.  By profession I’m an engineer and retired oil and gas management executive who was primarily employed overseas by major oil companies with responsibility for the execution of substantial capital investment deepwater exploration and recovery projects.

I was appointed to the Interim Executive Board (IEB) in 2009 as part of a small team to oversee the creation of a new Governing Body for Scalby School.I have chaired the School Improvement Committee for the last five years. I am the Vice – Chair of Governors at the Grimsby Institute with a particular responsibility for the Scarborough Portfolio. I retired as Headteacher of St. Augustine’s Catholic High School in 2009. My last OFSTED Inspection judged St. Augustine’s School as Outstanding. I serve on the Independent Appeals Panel for School Admissions and Exclusions.

Mr Michael Goode
Community Governor

I was Headteacher of Raincliffe School from 1989 to 2004 and Governor at Scalby School since April 2009. I was a consultant for the Specialist Schools Trust 2005-11 and am a member of the NYCC Admission Appeals Panel. I was also on the NYCC Exclusion Appeals panel 2005-10. I currently serve on Scarborough Borough Council’s Standard Committee as Chairman and am a Trustee of Advocacy Alliance. I belong to the Rotary Club of Scarborough and was its president 2010-11. I serve on the North York Moors Historical Railways Trust and attend St Mary’s Church, Cloughton where I was editor of the Parish Magazine 2005-10. I am currently Chair of the Church Community Hall Management Committee at Cloughton.

Mrs Sherri Williamson
Community Governor

I was a member of the Governing Body when the school went into Special Measures. I was invited to join the Interim Executive Board in April 2009 and was pleased to be able to continue to contribute to the school as part of the new Governing Body established in September 2011. I have worked full time in Local Government for 28 years, predominantly in a management role overseeing both personnel, performance, policies and budgets. I was Chair of the Finance & General Purposes Committee and a member of the School Improvement Committee until meeting structure was reviewed in 2015.

Mrs Stephanie Hartley
Community Governor

I have been a governor at Northstead School for over 20 years and at Scalby since March 2006. I was invited by the LA to join the IEB after the school went into special measures and was re-elected as a parent governor when the school returned to full governance in September 2011. I serve on both the Finance & General Purposes Committee and the School Improvement Committee. I have 3 children who have all attended Scalby. I have been a receptionist/admin assistant at Castle Health Centre in town since 2009 and prior to that held a similar position at Danes Dyke Surgery in Scalby.
