 Why
BTEC
BTEC qualifications are designed to provide work-related qualifications. They
have been developed to provide the knowledge, understanding and skills necessary
to prepare learners for employment and/or to provide career development opportunities
for those already in work. On successful completion of a BTEC qualification, learners
may progress into or within employment and/or continue their study in the vocational
area.
BTEC First Diploma
The level 2 BTEC First Diploma is a equivalent to 4 GCSE
at A to C and will take 5 periods a week in school time plus homework. The qualification
is a level 2 qualification which means students can only get grades A to C. If they
do not receive at least a pass in all the modules they will not pass the qualification.
The qualification comprises of 6 modules, 3 are core modules that are set by the
examination board and 3 modules are optional and can be chosen by the school from
a list. It is important to remember that the BTEC First Diploma offers a focused qualification for learners who wish to follow a programme of study that is directly
related to an aspect of employment that they may be interested in or wish to move
into in due course.
