 If
you want to develop a range of skills and techniques, personal qualities and attitudes
essential for a career in Travel and Tourism then this is the course for you!
Have you always dreamed of being an air hostess, working abroad or being a travel
writer? This course would equip you with the necessary skills to go on and form
a career in the industry. At the very least this qualification will improve your
customer service skills, destination knowledge and business awareness, which have
all been highlighted as areas of weakness in the Travel and Tourism sector.
The Edexcel level 2 BTEC Diploma in Travel and Tourism consists of 3 core units
plus 3 specialist units. Generally we do the core units in Year 10 and the specialist
units in Year 11. A choice will be made from:
|
Core Units |
The UK Travel and Tourism Industry
Exploring Customer Services in Travel and Tourism
UK Travel and Tourism Destinations
|
|
Specialist Units |
European Holiday Destinations
Exploring Marketing in Travel and Tourism
Business Skills for Travel and Tourism
Developing Employability Skills for Travel and Tourism
Planning visits for Travel and Tourism
|
Each unit is assessed
by assignments using different types of techniques, for example role play, oral
presentation and written work. As there are no exams the students need to make sure
that they can work independently. This is a perfect way to start them off before
they go to college as they learn skills that will be useful in all walks of life.
Students also spend some time out of school and will be expected to adopt industry
standards for behaviour and performance. Working in a team is also a big part of this course and they will be expected to work with members of staff in different
companies as well as with their peers.
