 GCSE Additional
Science is a concept-led course to meet the needs of students seeking a deeper understanding
of basic scientific ideas. The contexts used allow concepts to be readily related
to their applications. The course focuses on scientific explanations and models,
and give students an insight into how scientists help to develop our understanding
of ourselves and the world we live in.

Assessment
- Three unit examinations, incorporating objective questions on three teaching modules,
set and marked by OCR.
- An Ideas in Context examination, based on pre-release material, set and marked by
OCR.
- A Skills Assessment Unit, internally marked and moderated by OCR.
- The examinations are staged, the first one taken in June of Year 10, the other in
June of the following year.
