The BTEC First Diploma in Business is equivalent to four GCSEs (grades C-A) which
can give you the opportunity to progress to advanced level courses such as BTEC
National Business or AS Business Studies. Alternatively, this course prepares you
for employment within a business.
A number
of visits may be arranged which may require students to make a contribution towards travelling costs.

Who is the course for?
For students who want to study on a practical, work-related
two year course that has no traditional examinations. It introduces learners to
the skills and knowledge needed to understand how businesses work and operate.

Teaching and
Learning
The course is taught by well qualified and experienced staff. Students learn
by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations.
Students will also set up and run their own business with other students on the course.
Key Skills
Students following this course can expect to develop their key skills
in communication.
Assessment
The course is assessed through practical projects and
assignments. All units are assessed by the class teacher and moderated by the awarding
body. An overall grade, pass, merit or distinction, is then awarded. This is equivalent
to four GCSEs at C grade, B grade, or A grade respectively.
Resources
The school
has excellent ICT facilities and internet access, and you will be completing all
your assignments using office software. In addition, you will have access to text
books, case studies, as well as visits to real businesses.
