The DfES recommends that secondary school students aged 12 to 16 should be taught
for 24 hours per week.
At Scalby School students have 25 lessons per week of one hour each as well as Assembly
and Registration times. At 8.40 am a bell rings to warn students that they should
be present on site and in readiness for registration at 8.45 am. A student who arrives
in class after the second bell at 8.45 am is marked late. Students should not arrive
on site too early since staff supervision duties do not begin
until 8.35 am.
