All students in Years 10 and 11 will follow a balanced course complying with the National Curriculum in Physical Education which includes a range of team and individual sports activities and health related fitness.

Would you like to improve your skill, knowledge of rules and regulations, and understand the role of the coach in a range of sports? Does the idea of learning about how muscles function, respiration, and body type interest you? Could you research current issues relating to sport, such as drug-taking, fan behaviour, National Lottery funding, and the changing face of the Olympics?
If you have answered yes to all the above questions maybe this course if for you. You must remember that the course includes theory and written work as well as practical.
Also take note that the course is purely ‘GAMES’ based. (See table below)
GCSE Physical Education (GAMES) is assessed by a two hour written paper on Factors affecting Performance and Participation in Games Activities ie: Health and Fitness; Principles of Training; Individual Performance and Participation; Social and Cultural factors worth 40% of the total mark.
Practical performance makes up the other 60% looking at Effective Performance and Analysis. This involves the candidate being assessed in four activities from at least two of the following three groups.
Being a member of a school team or representing an outside club in at least one of the activities is normally a minimum expectation.
